Dr. De'Shondra N. Leonard DDS
Hello Everyone! My name is Dr. De’Shondra N. Leonard. I grew up all over the U.S. and abroad due to my father serving in the U.S. Army. However, I spent most of my adolescent years in New Orleans, Louisiana, where I went on to graduate from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. I then set my eyes on pursuing a career in dentistry at Meharry Medical College in Nashville Tennessee. I graduated with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2012. Since graduating, I completed an AEGD residency program at Wichita State University in Wichita Kansas in 2013. Since then I have been an associate doctor at several practices in Houston, Texas for the last 7 years and treated babies as young as 6 months and all the way to 99. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging with my sorority sisters (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc), staying active, traveling to find the best beaches in the world, and rooting for my hometown football team, The New Orleans Saints. My passion for dentistry started around age 16 when I went to the orthodontist and got braces. The transformation in my self-esteem and confidence due to that experience impacted me in a way that made me want to have that lasting effect on people as well. Some of my best career experiences have been mission work in the Dominican Republic and Houston Texas where I have been able to provide dental care in communities that may not have access to healthcare. Although I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, Endodontics (root canal therapy) is my biggest passion. Helping my patients retain their natural teeth for many years and also eradicating pain and infection brings joy to me that can not be explained. It is my hope that when I meet you, you’re left feeling like a member of my family.
