Transform Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers: A Guide

Are you considering a smile makeover? Porcelain veneers might be just the solution you’re looking for! These thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials are designed to cover the front surface of teeth, improving their appearance and giving you a dazzling smile. At Toothology, we’re excited to guide you through the process of getting porcelain veneers, from your initial consultation to the final reveal.

The Consultation: Your First Step to a New Smile

When you visit our Scottsdale office for a consultation, Dr. Aaron Jeziorski will assess your oral health and discuss your smile goals. This is your opportunity to ask questions and share any concerns you might have about veneers. We’ll examine your teeth, take X-rays if necessary, and determine if porcelain veneers are the best option for you.

Planning Your Perfect Smile

Once we’ve decided that veneers are right for you, we’ll create a treatment plan. This may involve taking impressions of your teeth and discussing the shape, size, and color of your new veneers. We might even use digital imaging to show you a preview of your new smile!

Preparing Your Teeth

The next step involves preparing your teeth for the veneers. This typically requires removing a small amount of enamel from the tooth surface — about half a millimeter. Don’t worry; it’s a painless process, and we’ll ensure you’re comfortable throughout.

Crafting Your Custom Veneers

Your impressions and specifications are sent to a dental laboratory where skilled technicians will create your custom porcelain veneers. This process usually takes about two weeks. In the meantime, we may fit you with temporary veneers to protect your prepared teeth.

The Big Day: Fitting Your Veneers

When your porcelain veneers are ready, you’ll return to our office for the fitting. Dr. Jeziorski will carefully check the fit, shape, and color of each veneer to ensure they’re perfect. Once you’re both satisfied, the veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth using a special dental cement and light beam.

Adjusting to Your New Smile

It may take a few days to get used to your new veneers. They might feel a bit different at first, but you’ll quickly adjust to your transformed smile. We’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to check how you’re doing and make any necessary adjustments.

Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers

With proper care, your veneers can last for many years. Brush and floss regularly, just as you would with your natural teeth. Avoid biting on hard objects or using your teeth as tools to prevent damage to your veneers.
